1980's Computerization
As the company grew bigger, Mr. Wong, the founder of the company,
realized the importance of scientific management. And in early 1980's
he spearheaded the computerization of the group's operations. This
exercise laid down the foundation of modern property listing system
and paved the way for the establishment of our website in late 1990's.
What's more, this computerization exercise had enabled the management
to manage the operations through number and data, and had facilitated
the growth of our branch network before the market peaked off in
1997.
1990's Launch of corporate website
During the 90's, Midland was definitely a pioneer in website development.
In 19xx, Midland launched its website site, www.midland.com.hk.
Providing comprehensive property-related information such as property
registration records, market analyses, property listings and etc.,
our website soon became one of the most popular property portals
in Hong Kong. Since 1995, Midland's research department has processed
almost all the property transactions registered with Land Registry
and then has posted them online. Making a few clicks, internet users
can search most of the information they need to know about the property
market.
2000's Not just a plus, It's a must
In recent years, internet usage has been on the rise and more and
more potential clients would do their own research before approaching
our agents or paying visit to our branches. So a comprehensive website
has become an essence in this industry. In the past decade, some
major revamps were carried out, and as a result, speed of the website
was improved and functionality was enhanced. Our The group formed
a strategic alliance with Hutchison Telecommunications to provide
property listings and other market information to the latter's WAP
subscribers. In 2004, the two companies joined forces again to launch
the property market intelligence service for 3G cellular phone subscribers.
In addition, the alliance launched the property information services
for Palm users. All things considered, the group is a forerunner
among real estate agencies when it comes to utilize innovations
in information technology.
2010's Rise of the Planet of the Apps
To cope with the market needs, Midland launched applications for
iPhone and Android to meet customer demand for timely dissemination
of market intelligence, of market intelligence, thus making the
industry more professional and well-equipped with cutting edge technology.
Since the apps have been in place, they have always stayed at the
top ten 10 most popular downloaded apps at the relevant category.
Internally, Midland also spared no effort in encouraging our frontline
to embrace the technology and use smart phone. In 2011, the smartphone
usage among our frontline staff in HK is believed to jump substantially.
